Our China Mission Was a Huge Success

Update: China Mission Trip – October 2016

Roy & Bonnie Walters and I can truly say, “It was an awesome experience”!

Roy & Bonnie Walters and I can truly say, “It was an awesome experience”! We left Memphis on Thursday, September 29th, and arrived back on Monday, October 10th. Our Chinese organizer and interpreter, Nancy, went the “extra mile” to keep us busy, and to make this an amazing mission trip!

It was an extra long, and very eventful trip! We arrived in Lanzhou, Gansu Province by plane, then took a “fast train” to the city of Zangye for four (4) days of ministry which included ministry to children, youth, and all day leadership training sessions on Monday. The response was wonderful! The local believers were such a blessing to us, many of whom are serving the Lord at great sacrifice in this Communist country! They wanted us to “book” next year before we left.

There were many “situations” that the Lord literally rescued us from, that were totally unexpected. One such event was being ordered in the middle of the night by the police to move from the church apartments to a local hotel, as it is against the law for foreigners working with churches to not stay in a “state approved” hotel. There was someone in the church tipping off the authorities of anything we should not be doing, such as speaking in the 800 member church on Sunday morning!

Before leaving the area, we took in the site of the beginning of China’s “Great Wall”!

Next, we made our way, by train and by plane, to the City of Chengdu in the Sichuan Province. Having been there twice before, I couldn’t wait to see everyone, and to meet many new people that we would be working with. Again, many unexpected things happened that had us continually praising God for His protection and blessings!

On Thursday, we conducted 4 – 5 hours of sessions at a church meeting in a community building. It was standing room only! Following services, we went to the home of one of the members where we baptized 12 people into Christ! What a time of celebration.

On Friday we visited the world famous Panda Reservation, then went shopping. We had many occasions during meals to encourage believers, and to witness to non-believers.

On our final Sunday, we visited and shared in two (2) churches, plus another church provided lunch. During the day, a total of 11 more people made the “Good Confession” to accept Christ, and will be baptized into Christ! PTL!

There are simply too many things to put into a quick report. But we wanted to give this report, as so many hundreds were praying for us, and to all who supported us to make this trip possible! God is doing tremendous things in China! However, since the election of the most recent leaders in China, including President, the churches are once again under persecution! Please pray for the Lord’s church in China!

Thanks and God Bless, Don W. Todd

Fifty three people openly confessed faith in Christ

China Mission Report

What a wonderful mission trip to China! So many blessings and opportuni ties. Pictured here is our team which included three of us from the U.S. (myself , David Smith – New Hope Chr Ch, Bartlett, TN, Richard Wolfcale – retired Minister from Ashville, NC), and three from China, including Nancy, the one who organized our activities, and who is responsible for thousands of new believers in China! We were in awe of the way the Lord led us, of the overwhelming interest in Christianity, and of the responses from so many.

There were six baptized into Christ, many others committing to being baptized, and so many others asking to know more about Christianity, especially in comparison to Buddhism. We met in churches, in a very popular Coffee Bar, and in a busy Tea Shop, sharing our faith to unbelievers, answering many questions from average people, and professionals: doctors, lawyers, teachers, business owners, professors, and government employees, all very eager to know more about Christianity.

While our governments are competing for power and positions, millions and millions of Chinese are coming to Christ and being baptized into Christ. There is such a hunger for Bibles, and teaching about Christ in China. Praise the Lord! Thanks to all of you who gave, prayed, and made this trip possible!

My third trip to China was to the Sichuan Province. The capital city, Chengdu, has a population of over ten million. It is so exciting to see the hand of God at work in the lives of Christ’s followers there, and to see the response to our presentation of the gospel of Christ.

Many people made public decisions for Christ. Churches, and church leaders, were encouraged. This was my first time ever in over 50 years of ministry to baptize in a bathtub! Fifty three people openly confessed faith in Christ and asked to be baptized.

We ministered in House-Churches, Open-Churches, and in restaurants. In one restaurant we shared Christ with business women, waitresses, a Buddhist Zen Master, and a Chinese girl who just graduated college in the UK (United Kingdom). Many of them accepted Christ, or wanted to know more about Christianity. PTL!

With extra funds from family and friends we were able to share several thousand dollars with two church sponsored Chinese orphanages, and one five year old girl whose nose was eaten by rats when her birth parents neglected her by leaving her alone at home for days when she was a baby. Funds are now being raised by her adopted parents to get her a new nose.

These photos will show something of the wonderful experiences our team of six had on this recent trip to China. TO GOD BE THE GLORY!
